LOUIS PAUL BOON

LOUIS PAUL BOON (FRENCH HEIRBAUT)

This statue, flanked by striking texts, was placed on this square in 2003 on the occasion of 25 years of C.C. Boontje. It is a realistic portrait of an exceptional personality. An innovator who "kicks people's conscience into gear. His literary talent and social commitment, his perspicacity and mildness, his irony and melancholy leave no one unmoved. The author's literary legacy and ideas are deeply engraved in the collective memory of Flanders.

HEIRBAUT Frans (1948)

Frans Heirbaut is the son of sculptor Gisleen Heirbaut. He took a course in stone and marble working (1969) and obtained a diploma in higher art education in sculpture (1974) and drawing (1975) in Sint-Niklaas.
