Dear Art Lover,
If you are going to Drogenbos, here is a tip for a visit that is worthwhile.
The Felix Art & Eco Museum in the spotlight: 'In between Spaces'.
Since the MuZee of Ostend is in need of renovation, part of the collection is taken care of by the Felix Art & Eco Museum in Drogenbos.
The museum owes its existence to the legacy of farmer-artist Felix De Boeck (1898-1995), who lived there in his 18th century classified farmstead.
The quirky exhibition “In between Spaces” counterbalances work by Jean Brusselmans, Frits Van den Berghe and Léon Spilliaert with a modern collage by Congolese Sammy Baloji (b. 1975), which reflects on the situation in Congo after colonialism.
It looks at the modernism of the 1920s. The work “Prefab” by artist Aglaia Konrad (b. 1960 Salzburg) shows a room-filling installation with drawings, sketches and objects inspired by the 1920s. Complementing these are works from that period: by Patrick Peire, Jules Schmalzigaug and Jozef Peeters.
Finally, abstract art receives attention with the work of Georges Van Tongerloo and Victor Servranckx in confrontation with recent work.
