LOUVRE-LENS-“GOTHIQUES”
The Louvre-Lens museum is presenting a unique exhibition: “Gothiques”.
It highlights Gothic art, which emerged after the Romanesque period in Île-de-France and Picardy in the 12th century and continued to flourish for several centuries. In the 19th century, this art form was revived in the Neo-Gothic style.
Today, we refer to it as “Gothic”.
Extremely valuable pieces have been brought together: sculptures, ivories, parchments and miniatures from the most famous museums of medieval art, including the Musée de Cluny in Paris. They illustrate the “spirit” and “language” of Gothic art.
- The permanent collection of the Louvre - Lens underwent a change last year and remains more than worth a visit.
