Visit-Le-Chant-eng

Dear Art Lover,

DONAS, ARCHIPENKO, LA SECTION d'OR

ENCHANTING MODERNISM

The KMSKA focuses on the work of Antwerp artist Marthe Donas, also known as “Tour Donas” (1885-1967).

She lived in a period when it was not so common for women to be an artist. She was a free-spirited woman who found her own path within the avant-garde with her cubist and abstract style.

The exhibition also features work by her partner, the Ukrainian sculptor Alexander Archipenko.  Artist friends are also represented, including Mondrian and Modigliano.

The artist also played a role in the newly founded art circle, La Section d'Or.

At the KMSKA until 11 January 2026

If you are visiting Mons,  here is a recommendation for a worthwhile visit.

LE CHANT DE LA TERRE - DAVID HOCKNEY

The CAP/Museum of Fine Arts in Mons is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the work of artist David Hockney (born 1937), entitled Le Chant de la terre.

It highlights the artist's favourite themes: the eternal cycle of life, the beauty of nature and the seasons, human loneliness and melancholy: an aesthetic and spiritual journey.

It combines painting, music and poetry. Hockney's work enters into dialogue with van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Constantin Meunier, Gustav Mahler: 'Das LIed von der Erde (1907-1908) and Scandinavian artists, among others.
