Dear Art Lover,
if you are going to Mechelen, here is a tip for a visit that is worthwhile.
EXCEPTIONAL CARPETS IN MECHELEN
Once again, the Hof van Busleyden museum in Mechelen is presenting a very special exhibition: 'Eternal Spring, Gardens and Tapestries in the Renaissance'.
Antoine Perrenot de Granvelle (1517-1586) was serving the Habsburgs. He was counselor to Margaret of Parma and cardinal archbishop of Mechelen. As a collector of art treasures and patron of the arts, he owned a series of 16th-century tapestries in his palace in Brussels.
They belong to the permanent collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna Each of the tapestries has as its theme: the dreamed place of a “Renaissance" garden.
Court of Busleyden until March 16, 2025
