Dear Art Lover,
If you are going to Oudenaarde, here is a tip for a visit worthwhile.
An exhibition not to be missed: 'MARGARETHA VAN PARMA - KEIZERSDOCHTER BETWEEN MACHT EN IMAGO'.
The MOU - Museum Oudenaarde - sheds light on the figure of the governess of the Netherlands, Margaret of Parma, daughter of Charles V and an Oudenaarde maid, Johanna Van der Gheynst.
The exhibition brings explanations about Margaret and evokes the atmosphere of the 16th century through various magnificent objects from different collections focusing on rituals and traditions.
In the beautiful Romanesque church of Our Lady of Pamele, Margaret's baptismal church, photographs of “Strong Women” by Lieve Blanquaert are on display.
Lutenist Floris De Rijcker performs music from that period.
